What if the weather is bad and roads are closed?

Bad weather is always a possibility, and sometimes that means that certain roads are impassible. Inclement weather is most likely to occur on the roads to Mount Evans and Pikes Peak, but could happen anywhere in the Colorado Mountains, even if unlikely. In this event, we will re-route and provide alternative sight-seeing opportunites.

How much luggage can I bring?

Each tour participant may bring 1 suitcase weighing no more than 33 pounds (15kg). In addition, a small carry-on bag that can fit under your seat is also permitted.

What should I wear?

Weather in Colorado is highly unpredictable, especially in May and October. The summer months can be very warm, but you should definitely bring several layers and a good windbreaker/raincoat and a hat, ESPECIALLY if your tour includes a visit to Mount Evans or Pikes Peak. It is almost always cold and windy on the mountain peaks.

What will the weather be like?

Colorado is one of the sunniest places in the United States. The mountains are subject to unpredictable weather, however. May and October can easily see snow, and the summits of Mount Evans and Pikes Peak can see snow on any given day of the year. The regular weather pattern of summer in Colorado is clear in the morning, with clouds rolling in during the afternoon. Rain doesn't usually last very long, unless it's just a full-day, overcast and rainy day. Those are few and far between, however.

Is food provided on the tour?

We will provide some light snacks and non-alcohol drinks on the tour. Many of the lodging providers will also provide at least a continental breakfast. Lunch and dinner will not typically be provided. You won't need to bring anything with you, as we will always be stopping along the way in places where you'll have several choices for meals.

What about the high altitude?

Altitude affects people differently. If you are coming from sea level and taking one of our tours that includes the summit of Mount Evans or Pikes Peak, we recommend arriving a couple days earlier in Colorado to begin to get used to the altitude. The main thing is to DRINK LOTS OF WATER, and snack frequently. This mitigates much of the effects of the altitude. When you are up high, take it easy - even locals can get light-headed if they move too quickly or strenuously up high. We'll keep an eye on you, though, and make sure you're okay.

Are there toilets on the coach?

No. However, your driver/guide will make regular stops along the way.

How much time will I have off the coach?

Each tour is designed to provide a balance of sight-seeing off the coach and sight-seeing on the coach. There are a couple days that require more travel. These days are noted in the itinerary as a "Major Travel Day." You'll still have opportunities to get out and stretch, have lunch and enjoy time in the clear mountain air.

Are your tours suitable for children?

All of our tours are suitable for children age 5 and up EXCEPT for the Breweries and Distilleries tour (minimum age of 21 required). We do not carry children under 5 years of age.

How early should I book my tour?

The sooner, the better! If there is an available seat, you can book your tour up to the day before departure. But to be assured of a seat, we recommend booking as soon as possible.

Should I get travel insurance?

This is optional, of course, but we do recommend it in case there are any last-minute changes or emergencies.

May I tip my tour guide?

Yes, of course. This is entirely up to you, but if you have enjoyed your trip and your driver/guide has provided an entertaining and informative tour, you are welcome to tip any amount you wish.

What language will the tour be in?

All tours are given in plainly spoken English.
